If you’re like most farmers, you know that succession planning is important, but that it’s easy to put off. Timely planning takes effort, but not doing it can be disastrous. The biggest hurdle is getting the plan done.
LFG’s Farm Succession School is coming RI this winter. A commitment of just three winter days will allow you to develop a concrete succession plan for your farm business, your land and your future.

Transitioning farmers made huge strides toward completing their transfer plans at last year’s Farm Succession School.
You’ll get help with goal setting, estate planning, retirement budgeting, legal and tax issues, communications, bringing on a successor and so much more. In this unique course, class exercises and discussions are combined with between-session homework.
Last winter, 21 farms across New England made huge strides toward completing their plans by attending the Farm Succession School. The small peer group yielded big rewards; farmers loved the amount of attention they received, and valued the trust and sharing that developed among the participants, regardless of scale or type of enterprise.
It is a big relief to me! Thanks for the push to get it done! The course was well worthwhile. Thank you for your good work!”
A must do! Definitely would recommend it. Well worth the time.”
In its third year, the Succession School is led by LFG’s Kathy Ruhf and Jon Jaffe of Farm Credit East. A guest attorney will join us. This year’s sessions will be held in Rhode Island – and are open to all senior farmers and farm couples. Next year, we’ll offer the course in other New England states. Participants receive ongoing and follow-up individual support and a fee rebate for additional succession planning services. See flyer for details
