The board of directors has officially named Shemariah Blum-Evitts as Executive Director of Land For Good. The announcement comes with jubilation and recognition for the role that Shemariah has played for the past several months.
Having served in an interim position for the past 18 months, Shemariah has led the organization through an intentional visioning period while demonstrating a deep respect for the talent and commitment among the staff and board. Under Shemariah’s leadership, LFG’s team has expanded, impacts in the field have strengthened, and we’ve taken the opportunity to plan strategically for Land For Good’s future.
Prior to the interim appointment, Shemariah served as Program Director for five years. She has deep experience guiding this work, also leading the Land for Farmers initiative with state partners and collaborators across New England (2021-2024).
“I am proud to be leading an organization built on collaboration, keen to issues of equity and justice, and staffed with an energized team, both realistic about the options on the ground and optimistic about the innovations that need to come.”
Shemariah Blum-Evitts, Executive Director
Shema has farming and land access journeys of her own, along with many years directly supporting beginning farmers, all of which has increased her working knowledge of the issues and challenges surrounding farmland access, tenure, and transfer.
