We are excited to introduce our new field staff in Maine and Connecticut that are helping farm seekers on their path to acquiring farmland and retiring farmers with their transfer planning.
Please welcome Sylvie and Freedom to the Land For Good team!

Sylvie Boisvert joins the team as our new Maine Field Agent and Farm Transfer Program Coordinator. Sylvie brings extensive experience in small business advising and farm succession planning. She knows how to navigate the emotional and relational complexities of transitions. As a Farm Coach for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Sylvie assisted farmers with farm management, business planning, and succession issues, and often recommended LFG’s Farm Succession School and resources to farmers. She is also a certified farm succession coordinator through the International Farm Transition Network.
“After nearly a decade of working with farmers and small business owners, I’ve seen just how vital it is to support the human side of succession planning. If someone is willing to pass on a business they’ve built, the least we can do is help make it easier. I’m excited to be in a role where I can help make those transitions smoother and more sustainable. Supporting farm and business succession not only preserves knowledge and farmland, it also strengthens Maine’s economy, environment, and communities.”

Our former field agent, Kate Turcotte, has returned to farmer education work with Maine farmers. We look forward to connecting with Kate as a partner in the field doing this critical work.

Freedom Gerardo, a long-time collaborator, joins the team as our new Connecticut Field Agent. Freedom is a Bronx-native community organizer turned farmer, co-owning the Liberated Land Cooperative, which runs Connecticut’s first statewide CSA. He is passionate about creating a more equitable and sustainable future for farmers in New England. As Co-Director of the Venture Farming Institute and co-founder of his farm, SEAmarron Farmstead, Freedom works to reimagine equitable food systems for farmers in the state of Connecticut and nationwide. His focus on land access and food justice empowers communities of color through farming and community organizing to build long-term food sovereignty.
“As a BIPOC farmer and advocate for equitable land access, I feel a deep connection to LFG’s mission of securing land for farmers, supporting farm viability, and fostering a more just and inclusive food system. My journey as a farmer of color has shaped my understanding of the systemic barriers that Black, Indigenous, and farmers of color face, and it fuels my commitment to creating opportunities for these communities to thrive. As someone who has worked in spaces where diversity was often an afterthought, I am inspired by LFG’s proactive approach to equity and justice.“

We wish former field agent, Will O’Meara, our friend and co-owner of Hungry Reaper Farm, abundant success with his farm. We know he’ll continue to champion for next generation farmers in Connecticut.
At Land For Good, we’re fortunate to have a team with deep experience, an educated network of partners, and a committed Board of Directors.
