We are excited that Will O’Meara, a young farmer and organizer from Waterbury CT, has joined our team as our new Connecticut Field Agent.
Will’s farming roots go back to high school on Waldingfield Farm in Washington CT, where he currently serves as assistant manager.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Food and Farming from UMass Amherst, where he spent his time on the UMass Student Farm crew while also soaking up as much knowledge and experience as he could at the many farms of the Pioneer Valley.
I am excited to serve my agricultural community and carry out Land For Good’s mission here in Connecticut,” shared Will.
Will serves on the Steering Committee of The New CT Farmer Alliance, a chapter of the National Young Farmers Coalition that brings Connecticut’s beginning farmers together to identify and advocate around common challenges and opportunities.
Will brings enthusiasm for our mission and diverse experience that is sure to be an asset to the Connecticut agricultural community,” said Shemariah Blum-Evitts, LFG’s Program Director. “Through his prior farming pursuits and advocacy work for farmers, he is already well networked and poised to expand support to farmers and landowners throughout the state.”
