It’s almost that time of year again. GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the season of giving by inspiring people to give back on December 3rd and throughout the year. Land For Good is joining the conversation to raise awareness of the farmland access challenges and what is needed to keep farmers on their land and to keep farmland in farming.
In the week following Thanksgiving and the shopping frenzies around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday is a powerful day to remind us what it means to give back. You can help close to home by supporting Land For Good’s mission of putting more farmers more securely on more land in New England.
Our donors and funders are so important to us because we wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do without you,” shared Jim Hafner, Land For Good’s Executive Director. “The work we do on the ground, and larger systems-change work, is raising awareness amongst service providers and changing policies that will have a positive impact into the future on land access and transfer in our region and beyond.”
Since 2004, Land For Good has been providing caring support and expert guidance to help farmers, landowners and communities navigate the complex challenges of land access, tenure and transfer. Our comprehensive and collaborative approach achieves customized solutions and helps realize family, farm business and community goals. As a result of our good work, hundreds of farmers have accessed farmland and thousands of acres remain in active farming. Entire communities have benefited from increased farming opportunity, healthy lands, and a more secure food supply!
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. Whether it’s helping out a neighbor, showing up for an issue or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts. GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 14.2 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved.
GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year.” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
